Leak Tester

Sensitive single-channel testing close to the fixture

The iKit brought sensitive, single-channel leak testing right to the fixture inside automated cells. It was discontinued on 03/31/25 and will have limited parts availability after 2028. If iKits are built into your machines, plan the move to the Zaxis Z1 now — a failed tester inside an automation cell is a line-down event, not a maintenance ticket.

The Z1 is the iKit’s direct successor and was designed for the same job: a compact, machine-integrated single channel that mounts close to the part. The pneumatics are the same, so fixtures and connections carry over, and the Z1 firmware has been tested side by side with the iKit to deliver identical test results where applicable. Programs, limits and cycle times transfer with confidence.

What you gain is substantial. The Z1 runs eight test methods — pressure decay, vacuum decay, occlusion, mass flow, burst, chamber, pressure cracking and back-pressure flow — where the iKit ran four. It adds OPC UA and HDMI connectivity; Ethernet/IP and TCP/IP are shared with the iKit, moves from a 24-bit converter to a 32-bit A/D with faster scan rates, extends the pressure range to 1,000 PSIG and, like the iKit, cascades for synchronous multi-channel cells. It is built on a future-proof supply chain.

Zaxis will help draft your IQ, OQ and PQ documents from your existing documentation to expedite validation of the Z1 in your equipment. Upgrade your fleet before it becomes an emergency — request an upgrade quote and we will map each iKit configuration to its Z1 equivalent.

Upgrade Path: iKit to Z1

The iKit will have limited parts availability after 2028. The Z1 is the machine-integrated single-channel tester built to take its place with minimal change to your cell.

What stays the same

  • Same pneumatics — fixtures and connections carry over
  • Firmware tested side by side for identical test results where applicable
  • Compact, machine-mount format designed to sit close to the part
  • Single channel, with cascading for synchronous multi-channel cells
  • Optional detachable touchscreen interface
  • 100 stored programs

What improves

  • Eight test methods (from four): adds burst, chamber, pressure cracking and back-pressure flow
  • OPC UA and USB connectivity; Ethernet/IP and TCP/IP are shared with iKit
  • HDMI output for a large screen or monitor
  • 32-bit A/D converter (from 24-bit) with faster scan rates and 0.00001 PSI resolution
  • Pressure ranges to 1,000 PSIG (from 750) plus 0–14.7 PSI vacuum
  • Optional pneumatic valves for tooling and fixture control
  • Future-proof supply chain — serviceable for the long term

Leak Test Types

These are the methods iKit stations were configured for. Every one of them is available on the Zaxis Z1, which adds burst, chamber, pressure cracking and back-pressure flow — so an iKit program has a direct Z1 equivalent.
