Compact Entry-Level Leak Tester

PD Pressure Decay
Leak Tester (Limited Supply)

Entry-Level Air Leak Testing in a Small Footprint

The PD has limited supply because its processor is discontinued, and replacement parts are limited. For new stations and PD replacements, the recommended path is the Zaxis Z5L: the same focused, single-channel pressure-decay or vacuum-decay job on the current Z-series platform, with a longer service horizon.

The Z5L is a drop-in path, not a new validation project. The pneumatics are the same, so fixtures and test pressures carry over, and the Z5L firmware has been tested side by side with the PD to deliver identical test results where applicable. Your programs and limits transfer, and operators see the same fill-settle-test-vent cycle they already know.

What you gain: 100 stored programs instead of four, a 5” pinch-zoom touchscreen with light and dark modes, HDMI output, USB and 24 VDC I/O, a 32-bit A/D in place of the 24-bit converter for finer resolution and faster scan rates, and a future-proof supply chain that keeps the tester serviceable for the long term.

Zaxis will help draft your IQ, OQ and PQ documents from your existing documentation to expedite validation of the Z5L. Whether you are adding a station or standardising a fleet of PD testers, request a quote and we will map each PD configuration to its Z5L equivalent.

Upgrade Path: PD to Z5L

The PD has limited supply because its processor is discontinued; the Z5L is the recommended upgrade for new stations and PD replacements: the same single-channel pressure-decay role on the current Z-series platform.

What stays the same

  • Same pneumatics — fixtures and test pressures carry over
  • Firmware tested side by side for identical test results where applicable
  • Single channel, pressure decay or vacuum decay, in fixed 0–30 or 0–100 PSI ranges
  • Compact benchtop footprint
  • Simple setup that needs no lengthy operator training

What improves

  • 100 stored programs (from 4)
  • 5” pinch-zoom touchscreen with light and dark modes (from 4.3”)
  • HDMI output for a large screen or monitor
  • USB and 24 VDC I/O connectivity
  • 32-bit A/D converter (from 24-bit) with faster scan rates and 0.00001 PSI resolution
  • Optional onboard result storage with statistics
  • Future-proof supply chain — serviceable for the long term

Why Choose the PD Compact Pressure Decay Leak Tester?

The Zaxis PD brings pressure-decay leak testing to a compact, lower-cost platform. Its small form factor, bottom-mounted connectors and wall-mounting option help place the tester close to the fixture, reducing connection volume while preserving a clear touch-screen interface and programmable settings.

The PD is a practical choice when a production cell needs a dedicated leak-test station close to its fixture. Its compact arrangement is designed to reduce connection volume, and automatic pressure control, a 24-bit converter and 0.8 cm3 internal volume pair with simple data and control connections.

Benefits of the Zaxis PD Leak Tester

The PD is aimed at straightforward pressure-decay work where every inch of bench or automation space counts. It keeps the controls, program storage and data collection needed for a repeatable test while using a compact enclosure that can be wall mounted or located close to the leak-test fixture.

  • ✓Intuitive interface makes test setup quick and easy, with no need for lengthy training.
  • ✓Compact size saves valuable manufacturing space.
  • ✓4.3” color touchscreen.
  • ✓Lower cost can fit more testers into a budget and increase test throughput.
  • ✓Automatic pressure control allows multiple tests at varying pressures without adjusting the tester.
  • ✓Wall mountable to free counter space.
  • ✓Bottom-mounted connectors minimise internal test volume and simplify connectivity.
  • ✓Onboard processing shows simple statistics without export to a computer.
  • ✓USB port for easily accessible data collection.

How a PD Pressure Decay Test Runs

The PD is configured around a stored program for the test part. A pressure-decay cycle uses repeatable pressure and timing values so the part is evaluated against the selected limit.

1

Fill

Connect the part through the test fixture and apply the programmed positive pressure.

2

Settle

Allow the pressure and part to stabilise before taking the measurement.

3

Test

Measure the pressure change with the configured program and compare it to the part’s acceptable limit.

4

Vent

Release pressure, make the result available through the interface or I/O, and prepare the next part.

Pressure-decay leak rate is related to pressure change, volume and time. Use the leak rate calculator to plan a test and work with Zaxis to select the PD pressure range and fixture arrangement.

Leak Test Types

The PD runs pressure decay and vacuum decay tests. Its compact design is especially useful when the tester can be mounted close to the fixture, limiting test connection volume and supporting the sensitivity and test time required by the application.

Where the PD Is Used

The PD is intended for entry-level, single-port applications where compact placement and repeatable pressure-decay testing are the priority. It can be applied to many sealed components when the configured pressure range, fixture and leak limit match the product.
