Entry-Level Leak Tester

Z5L Single-Channel Pressure & Vacuum Decay Tester

Single-Channel Air Leak Testing

The Zaxis Z5L is an entry-level, single-channel air leak tester for production teams that need a compact, budget-friendly way to make repeatable pass/fail decisions. Its 5-inch touchscreen puts program setup and results at the station, while the 6.5 × 7 × 9 inch benchtop footprint fits efficiently beside a fixture or automation cell.

The Z5L runs pressure decay or vacuum decay leak tests in a fixed configuration: 0–30 PSI pressure decay, 0–100 PSI pressure decay, or 0 to −14 PSI vacuum decay. Choose the range and method for the part being tested, then use one test port to run the stored program for that production task.

Low internal volume, a 32-bit ADC and fast scan rates support high-sensitivity air leak measurements, with 0.00001 PSI test-result resolution. The 5-inch touchscreen supports pinch zoom, light and dark modes, and single-screen test setup; up to 100 stored programs keep repeat configurations available without rebuilding a test from scratch.

TCP/IP and USB connect the Z5L to production workflows, while optional onboard result storage and statistics support review of test outcomes. Zaxis has made USA-made leak-test equipment for more than 25 years; Zaxis leak testers are CE, ISO 9001, REACH and RoHS compliant.

Why Choose the Z5L Leak Tester for Your Production Line?

The Z5L is for a production line that needs one dependable leak-test channel rather than a larger multi-channel platform. It brings the same practical fundamentals—touchscreen setup, stored programs, compact dimensions and clear connectivity—to a fixed pressure-decay or vacuum-decay configuration. That focused scope makes selection, operation and training straightforward.

A fixed configuration is a practical advantage when the process is stable. Specify 0–30 PSI or 0–100 PSI pressure decay, or 0 to −14 PSI vacuum decay, and use the tester as the dedicated station for that method. The Z5L gives operators a single visual interface for setup and results, instead of asking them to navigate a platform built for several simultaneous channels.

Benefits of the Z5L Leak Tester

The Z5L brings essential leak-testing features to a single test port. Its compact platform supports the test method and pressure range the part requires while keeping program access, data options and line connections at the operator’s station.

  • ✓Single-screen test setup with HDMI output.
  • ✓Runs one test port.
  • ✓High sensitivity from low internal volume, a 32-bit ADC and fast scan rates.
  • ✓Intuitive touchscreen setup without a lengthy training session.
  • ✓TCP/IP and USB communication options.
  • ✓Up to 100 unique stored programs with optional onboard result storage.
  • ✓Onboard statistics.

How a Z5L Leak Test Runs

A pressure-decay program is built around four timed stages. The exact pressure, timing and pass/fail limit belong to the part’s validated program; the Z5L stores up to 100 programs so an approved setup can be selected again through the single test port.

1

Fill

Connect the part or fixture to the Z5L test port and bring it to the selected test pressure for the configured pressure-decay program.

2

Settle

Allow the connected part and test volume to stabilize before evaluating the pressure signal, so the programmed cycle separates settling behavior from the measurement period.

3

Test

The tester measures the pressure change during the programmed test interval and compares the result with the limit saved for that program.

4

Vent

At the end of the cycle, release the test condition as the fixture process requires, review the pass/fail result, and prepare the single channel for the next part.

For pressure decay, the relationship among pressure change, part volume and test time determines the calculated leak rate. Use the leak-rate calculator to explore those inputs before finalizing a process, then validate the completed test on the actual part and fixture.

Leak Test Types

The Z5L runs pressure decay or vacuum decay. Configure the unit for pressure decay at 0–30 PSI or 0–100 PSI, or for vacuum decay from 0 to −14 PSI. The selected configuration defines its one-channel process.

Where a Z5L Fits

A fixed-range, single-channel tester is suited to workflows where one part family or a defined test method needs a dedicated station. The following Zaxis resources explain representative leak-test applications and process considerations; the actual method, fixture and limit must be selected for the part.

Choose the Z5L when a dedicated, entry-level single-channel station and a fixed pressure-decay or vacuum-decay range fit the work. Choose the Z5 when the process needs up to four channels or the broader 2–1,000 PSIG pressure range described for that model. Both use a 5-inch touchscreen, but the Z5L is the focused option for one configured test port; the Z5 is the more flexible multi-channel platform.
