Zaxis eVmP electronic valveless metering pump family

Electronic Variable Metering Pumps

eVmP Electronic Valveless Metering Pumps

Electronic, valveless positive-displacement pumps for repeatable fluid metering and dispensing.

Zaxis electronic variable metering pumps use a patented valveless design with digitally controlled system-wide volumetric adjustment. The pumps meter liquids, chemicals and other substances for automation production lines.

The rotating and reciprocating ceramic piston has no external supply or discharge valves. Electronic control changes volume without a necessary manual adjustment between recipes or batches.

Choose among microliter, milliliter, high-capacity, benchtop, dual-enclosure and engineering configurations to fit the pump head, drive, flow and integration needs.

How the valveless design works

A precision ceramic core and linear stepper actuator set eVmP displacement; fine changes in angle position adjust metered liquid volume.

Its intake port remains connected to the discharge port in the valveless ceramic-piston arrangement. The design uses one moving part and is designed for millions of maintenance-free cycles.

Application review

eVmP configurations are used where a process needs repeatable metering of fluids such as reagents, gels, lubricants and chemical solutions. The appropriate configuration depends on the intended dispense amount, fluid resistance and machine controls. Reviewing those variables together keeps pump selection focused on the actual production task.

In depth: eVmP fluid metering

Electronic adjustment for changing processes

Electronic variable metering pump technology adjusts dispense volume and flow rate through controls rather than a manual mechanical change. That capability supports processes that must accommodate different products or fluid requirements.

A valveless positive-displacement pump links delivered volume to internal motion. The configuration still needs to be selected around the fluid, required volume and operating conditions.

Servo motor technology can provide controlled movement and torque for the pump mechanism.

Precision dispensing and fluid behavior

Precise dispensing transfers a controlled volume into a container, product or assembly. Positive displacement is useful because it physically moves a known amount during each pumping cycle.

Fluid viscosity and abrasiveness affect how a system performs. Gels and oils can create more resistance, while abrasive materials can influence component wear.

The intended application should establish the range, wetted materials and controls before installation.

eVmP V-Series pump configuration

Water hammer and cavitation

Water hammer is a pressure surge associated with changing the movement of fluid in a system. Cavitation occurs when vapor bubbles form and collapse in the pump.

Both conditions can affect equipment life, so inlet conditions and system pressure matter during configuration.

Selecting a metering pump for the application

Pump selection starts with the fluid, target volume, viscosity and pressure conditions instead of a single technology label. Positive-displacement and dynamic pump types respond differently as those conditions change.

A positive-displacement design physically displaces a measured volume. That can make it useful when a process needs a controlled, repeatable transfer rather than a flow that changes with pressure.

Valveless designs avoid external valves in the pumping path, while the complete wetted material set must be compatible with the application. Abrasive fluids can affect seals and tolerances, and viscous fluids may require attention to flow resistance.

Controls, maintenance expectations and integration requirements should be reviewed with the pump range. The final configuration is established by the operating conditions of the production process.

Some applications need only a small dose, whereas others need a milliliter-scale fill or a stronger drive for a resistant material. M-, V- and VS10-Series configurations offer separate ranges for reviewing those needs. Use the product specifications and a process trial to determine the appropriate configuration.

Bench-top and integrated enclosure options can position a metering pump in a laboratory or automation environment. Communication choices such as Ethernet IP, Ethernet TCP/IP, RS485 and 24VDC I/O should be aligned with the control architecture that operates the equipment.
