High-Capacity Air Leak Testing for Custom Applications

The 7i has been Zaxis’s large-display flagship for demanding, multi-port leak-test stations. It has now reached end of life and will have limited parts availability after 2028. If 7i testers anchor your production or R&D stations, plan the move to the Zaxis Z8 now, while it can be scheduled rather than forced.

The Z8 is the 7i’s direct successor — the same large-format, up-to-four-port concept, rebuilt on the current Z-series platform. The pneumatics are the same, so fixtures, manifolds and test pressures carry over, and the Z8 firmware has been tested side by side with the 7i to deliver identical test results where applicable. Your validated programs and limits transfer.

The gains are real. The Z8 adds test methods including back-pressure flow, adds OPC UA and HDMI; Ethernet/IP, TCP/IP and RS232/RS485 are shared with the 7i, replaces the 24-bit converter with a 32-bit A/D for finer resolution and faster scan rates, extends pressure ranges to 1,000 PSIG, and moves to an 8” pinch-zoom touchscreen with light and dark modes. It is built on a future-proof supply chain with a long production horizon.

Zaxis will help draft your IQ, OQ and PQ documents from your existing documentation to expedite validation of the Z8. Upgrade your fleet before it becomes an emergency — request an upgrade quote and we will map each 7i configuration to its Z8 equivalent.

Upgrade Path: 7i to Z8

The 7i will have limited parts availability after 2028. The Z8 carries the 7i’s large-display, multi-port role forward on a platform that will be supported for years.

What stays the same

  • Same pneumatics — fixtures, manifolds and test pressures carry over
  • Firmware tested side by side for identical test results where applicable
  • Up to four test ports, sequential or concurrent
  • Large-format touchscreen station for complex, multi-method programs
  • Pressure decay, vacuum decay, occlusion, mass flow, burst, chamber and pressure-cracking methods
  • 100 stored programs

What improves

  • Additional test methods, including back-pressure flow
  • Adds OPC UA and HDMI; Ethernet/IP, TCP/IP and RS232/RS485 are shared with the 7i
  • HDMI output for a large screen or monitor
  • 32-bit A/D converter (from 24-bit) with faster scan rates and 0.00001 PSI resolution
  • Pressure ranges to 1,000 PSIG (from 500) plus 0–14.7 PSI vacuum
  • 8” pinch-zoom touchscreen with light and dark modes
  • Future-proof supply chain — serviceable for the long term

Zaxis 7i Leak Tester FAQ

Is the 7i still supported?

The 7i will have limited parts availability after 2028. Its direct successor is the Zaxis Z8: same pneumatics and up-to-four-port format, firmware validated side by side for identical results where applicable, plus OPC UA and HDMI connectivity, a 32-bit A/D, additional test methods and an 8” touchscreen. Zaxis will help draft IQ/OQ/PQ documents to expedite your validation.

Which leak test methods can the 7i run?

The 7i runs pressure decay, vacuum decay, occlusion, mass flow, burst, chamber and pressure cracking tests. Each tester is configured for the methods needed by its application.

How many test ports can it support?

The 7i supports up to four test ports; multiple test types can be stored and run per program. It is available with one to four valves.

How many programs can be stored?

The 7i stores up to 100 test programs for different applications.

What display does the 7i use?

It has a large 7-inch color touch screen with a high-readability interface that supports quick setup without lengthy training.
